INHALE……….EXHALE
INHALE……….EXHALE
INHALE……….EXHALE (How do your feel?) I feel great!
Do you know your body type? Did you know that your body type determines your type of workout for you to yield optimal results? If you answered, YES to these questions GREAT…if not, that’s ok…read on to get the information you need…
Some of you may wonder what does your body type have to do with your workout? The answer: EVERYTHING! It is important, as one of your goals is to achieve optimal fitness. You are born into a body type and my recommendation – to accept YOUR BODY and work consistently to make it healthier regardless of type.
Repeat after me: MY BODY IS MY MASTERPIECE! I AM WHO I AM AND IT IS GREAT TO BE ME!
Before we go any further, I must state no one-body type is greater, better, less than, or worse than the other. You cannot change your body type, as your bone structure will not allow such a change. By knowing your body type, you are able to understand your body, including why weight gain occurs in certain areas, experience difficulty gaining muscle/weight, or how to split your time between cardio and muscle toning to gain desired results.
No Matter Your Age, Your Body Type, YOUR Ultimate Goal is to Achieve and Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle.
Now for the body types…..There are three broad body types:
1) Ectomorph
2) Mesomorph
3) Endomorph
With two sub-categories:
a) Ecto-Meso or Meso-Ecto
b) Meso-Endo or Endo-Meso
Don’t worry we will explain in detail.
Are You Ectomorph?
This is a slim body, linear in shape with narrow hips, short upper bodies, long arms and legs.
Here are some facts about Ectomorphs:
1) You have a fast metabolism (you burn calories even resting)
2) Most likely very flexible
3) You have very high endurance (sign of strong cardiovascular system)
4) You are unable to gain weight and muscle definition
5) With a thin physique, made of small bones and joints, you are more vulnerable to injury during extracurricular activities.
Common Myths about Ectomorphs –
You can eat anything and not gain an ounce. This is FALSE, as fat will build inside your body without proper care.
Being THIN DOES NOT = TO BEING HEALTHY! Don’t Get IT Twisted!
Are You Mesomorph?
This is a muscular body with thick bones. Muscles are tight and well defined: abs, thighs, gluteus, and calves…POW!
Here are some facts about Mesomorphs:
1) Natural athletic build
2) Full of energy and extremely competitive
3) Ability to gain muscle easily and this will help protect the skeletal frame through the aging process.
4) Risk for obesity without proper nutrition and consistent exercise.
5) Greatest health threat: Cardiovascular disease.
6) Gains fat easily
7) Heavier appearance than actual due to your thick bones and muscles
Are you the Combo Ecto-Meso or Meso-Ecto?
This body has a smaller bone frame, but resemble the muscle size and build of a Mesomorph. Your body is lean but your natural strength is greater than that of an Ectomorph.
Are You Endomorph?
This is a curvaceous body that resembles an hourglass. Your body fat settles into the lower regions of your body: lower abdomen, hips, and thighs.
Here are some facts about Endomorphs:
1) Small to medium bone structure
2) Short limbs in relation to torso
3) Musculature not well defined
4) Pone to excessive weight gain
5) Higher inclination towards obesity – The American Heart Association states “Abdominal fat deposits are more hazardous than in the butt and leg area because it is stored closer to the heart forcing the hardest working muscle in your body to work even harder!”
6) Because of potential increased fat, Endomorphs are more prone to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure.
Are you the Combo Meso-Endo or Endo-Meso?
This body is both curvaceous and muscular! Be careful, as you are vulnerable to extra unevenly distributed fat.
Your Body Type is????? Now, look in the mirror, give your self a BIG hug and repeat: MY BODY IS MY MASTERPIECE! I AM WHO I AM AND IT IS GREAT TO BE ME!
